CARITAS AMBASSADORS
Caritas Ambassadors
What does Caritas stand for?
Caritas may refer to: The Latin term for charity, one of the three theological virtues. Inspired by Catholic faith, Caritas is the helping hand of the Church – reaching out to the poor, vulnerable and excluded, regardless of race or religion, to build a world based on justice and fraternal love.
The responsibilities of a Caritas Ambassador is:
- To promote and develop social action projects within the school, parish and local community.
- By demonstrating “faith in action” we can raise awareness of Caritas within the Salford Diocese.
- Integrate the seven big themes into our school and local community.
- Dignity of the Human Person.
- Family and Community.
- Solidarity of the common good.
- Rights and Responsibilities.
- Option for the Poor and Vulnerable.
- The Dignity of Work.
- Stewardship – Care for God’s Creation.
'Love is the only thing that can fill hearts and bring people together. GOD IS LOVE.'
What is Catholic Social Teaching?
Mission Christmas
Mrs Summerton and our CARITAS team led a heartfelt assembly encouraging us to collect toys so that every child can enjoy a wonderful Christmas.
Your generosity never fails to amaze us—especially during this season of Advent. Every single donation makes a difference and is deeply appreciated. Thank you for sharing kindness and joy with those who need it most!
Reverse Advent Callendar
During Advent, the children have been collecting items for the Caritas Reverse Advent Appeal. Each donation, no matter how small, will make a big difference to those in need. Their generosity and thoughtfulness are a wonderful way to live out the spirit of giving and care for others during this special season.
Water Aid
The Caritas Ambassadors raised money for CAFOD’s Water Appeal by helping to raise awareness during a school assembly. They explained the importance of clean water for communities around the world and encouraged everyone to contribute. After the appeal, they thanked the children for their generous donations, showing how collective action can make a real difference in the lives of others.
Love in Action Award
The Caritas Ambassadors met to review the nominations for the Caritas Love in Action Award. Working together democratically, they carefully discussed each nominee and voted to decide on a winner. The exciting news was then shared with the whole school during assembly, celebrating the student whose actions truly reflected kindness, compassion, and service to others.
Harvest
The Caritas Ambassadors led an assembly all about Harvest, teaching the school about the importance of sharing and helping those in need. They encouraged pupils to donate food and essential items, which they then collected and carefully packaged, ready for The Brick to collect. Their work highlighted the values of generosity and service, showing the whole school how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others.
Launching our partnership with The Brick
To launch our Caritas partnership with The Brick, Councilor Chris Ready met with our Caritas Ambassadors to discuss ways we can support our local community. He was incredibly impressed by the ambassadors’ passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to making a difference. Their ideas and eagerness to take action set a positive tone for the important work ahead.
CAFOD - Launch the Family Feast Day
The Caritas Ambassadors confidently launched the Family Feast Day appeal during a recent church service. They spoke with clarity and passion, sharing the purpose of the appeal and encouraging everyone to support families in need. Their thoughtful words and enthusiastic delivery made them superb ambassadors for both our school and the wider Caritas mission.
CAFOD - Family Feast Day
Margaret from CAFOD recently met with our Caritas Ambassadors to launch the Family Feast Day appeal. During her visit, she inspired our pupils by sharing the importance of supporting families around the world through acts of kindness and generosity. Our ambassadors are now preparing to lead the launch of this important appeal in church over the coming weeks, encouraging our school and parish community to come together in support of CAFOD’s mission.
Love in Action Award
Our Caritas Ambassadors proudly launched the Caritas Love in Action Award with a whole school assembly. They spoke confidently and clearly, explaining the meaning of ‘Love in Action’ and how pupils and staff can nominate someone who shows care, compassion, and kindness in our school community. The ambassadors will be meeting soon to review the nominations and choose the very first recipient of this special award.
New Caritas Ambassador Training
The Caritas Ambassadors recently took part in a special training session with Kath Ainsley. This invaluable opportunity helped them deepen their understanding of how to live out Catholic Social Teaching through action. Equipped with new knowledge and inspiration, our ambassadors are now ready to support and guide their fellow pupils in planning and leading charity initiatives across the school. Their work will help us all to show love, compassion, and justice in our community. As Pope Francis reminds us, “A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just.”

World Book Day
Our Caritas Ambassadors worked closely with our Laudato Si team to arrange for a book swap using pre-loved books from our school community for World Book Day.
"When we feel empty inside, we might think that buying lots of things will make us happy. But real happiness comes from love, sharing, and caring for others—not from having more stuff."
Pope Francis
Caritas Ambassadors suppporting communites worldwide
The Caritas Ambassadors support communities worldwide, including the 'New Hope Orphanage' in Kenya. Our Ambassadors arranged for the the collection of donated essential items and treats for the children in the orphanage to use and enjoy. As always the kindness of our families meant that we were able to support such an important cause.
'And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.'
Hebrews 13:16
Caritas Ambassadors suppporting the local community
The Caritas Ambassadors supported Mrs Summerton in delivering an assembly all about 'Mission Christmas'. Our Ambassadors arranged for the the collection of donated toys. Yet again the generosity of families meant that we were able to support this fantastic charity.
'Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.'
Proverbs 19:17
Caritas Ambassadors showing Love in Action
The school community once again demonstrated their generosity by donating dry food goods for our Harvest Festival. The Caritas Ambassadors led an assembly about harvest, in which the children sang beautifully. They learnt how their small donation can make a huge difference to those who have less. The food donations were gratefully received by The Brick charity.
'Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'
Matthew 9:37-38
